Definition
of medicine according to the American Heritage Dictionary: a)
"The scientific study of diagnosing, treating, or preventing
disease. b) The branch of this science that deals with treatment by
means other than surgery. c) A substance used to treat
disease." From the Latin word, "medicina."
This
definition is how we normally view this word. However, there are
other types that are not always "scientific" and while some are
hoaxes, there seem to be others that have cured patients.
"Alternative Medicine" can come in many forms, natural herbs,
strict diets, even acupuncture. Stretching the definition can even
mean "entertainment
medicine" where the arts, such as movies
can be a type of medicine.
