The
florida department of insurance or Office of Insurance
Regulations has many helpful links to answer many of your
questions and has a list of emergency/disaster toll free phone
numbers you can call.
Because
Florida in 2004 was hit by four hurricanes--Charley, Frances,
Ivan and Jeanne--there are emergency orders, executive orders,
emergency rules and informational memorandums to help you find
any information that can help alleviate your situation.
For
instance, Emergency Rules Number 690ER05-06 states, "All
insurers which have outstanding personal residential and
commercial residential property claims as the result of
Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan, Jeanne or Tropical Storm
Bonnie, shall settle and pay all such claims, filed by the
policyholders as of December 31, 2004, no later than April 28,
2005."
